Our second honeymoon( 1 min read)

She checked her wristwatch again – ‘Can’t we just call him – ‘

He cut in, ‘When was the last time we came on vacation together, just you and me?’

Her cheeks flushed red, recalling old times.

He took her hands – ‘Let’s relive those days.’

She giggled like a teen; ‘Call him!!’ She insisted.

He looked away angrily.

‘What’s wrong?’ She asked.

‘Don’t you really see it? He has his own life now. He gets irritated if we call him. On some days he calls back, on others he simply forgets. You believe his excuses, but I know his priorities have changed.’

She looked away and sniffled hard.

‘Why can’t we change our priorities then? We’ve grown old and we shouldn’t waste whatever time we’ve got together shedding tears. We’ve done our bit for him.’

She blankly stared at the young couple playing with their little boy in a distance on the beach.

His mobile rang; she answered it – ‘We’ll call you later, son! Take care.’

Holding his hand, she smiled – ‘Let’s relive those days.’
